Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Spotsylvania County improve their lives.
We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.
Private Pesticide Recertification
is coming soon for Caroline, King George, Stafford, and Spotsylvania counties.
If your Private Pesticide License expires on December 31, 2018, you MUST attend a recertification class prior to December 31 to continue to be eligible to purchase and use restricted-use pesticides for another two years.
On Wednesday, November 28, two classes will be offered:
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.: King George VCE, 10087 Kings Highway, King George, VA 22485
- 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Spotsylvania VCE, The Marshall Center, 8800 Courthouse Road, Simms Conference Room, Spotsylvania, VA 22553

2019 Practical Beekeeping for Beginners
The Virginia Beekeeping Teaching Consortium (VBTA) is offering Practical Beekeeping for Beginners. The class is intensive, meets once a week for approximately two months and is designed primarily for people who want to keep bees. Class size is limited and registration is the first night of class. Classes are open to adults and children (ages 10+ accompanied by a paying adult). Books include: Diana Sammataro, The Beekeepers Handbook (4th edition), Mid Atlantic Apiculture (MAAREC) Beekeeping Basics & Honey Bee Parasite, Pests, Predators & Diseases as well as handouts and membership in Virginia Beekeeping Association and Rappahannock Beekeepers Association (RBA).
Class starts on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the Ray Simms Conference Room, The Marshall Center, 8800 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA from 7-9 p.m.
